Lib Dems choose Kevin Barron for Wellingborough Constituency11.30.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 4th Sep 2009
Local Liberal Democrats have chosen local activist Kevin Barron as the Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Wellingborough & Rushden constituency. Kevin Barron is married with one son and works as an internal IT security consultant for a major UK bank. Having first moved to Northamptonshire in 1979, he contested Croyland division in this year's county council elections and was the Liberal Democrat candidate for Northampton South at the last General Election. He replaces Richard Church, who contested the constituency at the 2005 General Election. Speaking after his selection, Kevin Barron said: "As Wellingborough's fastest growing party at the last General Election, I want to show how the Liberal Democrats have real solutions to clean up politics, protect civil liberties and to turn around our failing economy." "Our area is continuing to count the cost of both a Labour Government that has run out of ideas and from poorly-run Conservative Councils that have slashed services and failed to protect our town centres." "I'm very much looking forward to fighting to make a difference for the whole of Wellingborough and Rushden constituency - right up to the next General Election!", he added. ENDS
